Dr. Ronald Bernardini is a distinguished chiropractor, healthcare innovator, and community leader from Port Jefferson, New York, whose four-decade career has left a lasting mark on the American healthcare landscape.
Dr. Bernardini earned his B.S. in Biology from S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook in just three years before going on to receive his Doctorate in Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College in 1981. What followed was a career defined by firsts, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to patient-centered care.
Among his most historic achievements, Dr. Bernardini became the first chiropractor in the entire state of New York to be fully credentialed by a Level 1 hospital — St. John’s Episcopal Health Services — a milestone that helped reshape how chiropractic care is perceived and integrated within mainstream medicine. He went on to serve as Director of Chiropractic Services across multiple hospital outpatient facilities throughout Suffolk County.
A respected leader within his profession, Dr. Bernardini served as President of the New York State Chiropractic Association, Suffolk County Chapter, from 2006 to 2008, presiding over 375 active chiropractors. He has received the Distinguished Service Citation from the NYS Chiropractic Association and has been recognized in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Bernardini has championed interdisciplinary collaboration, forming strategic alliances with major healthcare systems including Northwell Health, North Shore Hospital System, Catholic Health Services, and the Peconic Eastern Long Island Hospital Systems. He has also led efforts to bring chiropractic care into opioid recovery initiatives — advocating for non-drug, non-surgical solutions to pain management.
His legacy is one of courage, compassion, and the conviction that healthcare works best when it works together.
